A Home for Resilience in Ukraine

Kharkiv Community Resilience Center (CRC)

NATAN is proud to announce the development of a Community Resilience Center in Kharkiv, Ukraine, building on our years of experience in Ukraine and lessons learned in Ofakim, Israel.
Trainers in the CRC have been trained by NATAN as part of the Train the trainers program.
The Kharkiv Resilience Center will serve as a hub for the community of people displaced by the war and the professionals who serve them, offering resources, psychosocial support and training to build resilience.

Making Music in Ofakim

Against all odds, as flowers bloom in the desert, a new music center is taking shape in the Mishor Hagefen neighborhood of Ofakim, a city still recovering from the tragic events of October 7th. The center welcomed its first students this month.

Telemedicine in Ukraine

The war has imposed significant challenges on Ukraine’s healthcare system. In Eastern Ukraine, with shortages of medical equipment and essential personnel, the situation is particularly difficult.

To address this need, NATAN leveraged telemedicine to provide essential health services in conflict zones. Dedicated volunteer doctors from Israel and the USA, fluent in Russian and/or Ukrainian, provide online medical consultations to residents displaced by war. Each doctor volunteers for two to three hours, weekly or biweekly. To date, NATAN provided telemedicine services to over 700 patients.

NATAN’s partners in this project include the Israeli Medical Mission, ZiphyCare, the Ukriane-based humanitarian organization Zgraya Association, and dedicated volunteers like Dr. Zina Semenovskaya, profiled in the Volunteer Spotlight below

NATAN is always looking for more doctors fluent in Ukrainian or Russian to join our team of telemedicine volunteers. To volunteer, please email albinart@gmail.com.

Volunteer Spotlight: Zina Semenovskaya, MD

Zina Semenovskaya lives with her husband and three young children in the SF Bay Area, where she works as an Emergency Room physician – and she treats patients in Ukraine, where she was born, via NATAN’s telemedicine project, Working with NATAN has been an excellent choice, she says. “It’s a small NGO with a lot of experience in global health. They’re very organized. Clinics run well, communication is very clear. Patients are ready to be seen – despite being in an active war zone.”
NATAN volunteers include doctors, nurses, dentists and general volunteers. Since the second week of October, NATAN clinics and psychosocial services have worked with more than 2800 patients, mainly in Eilat and near the Dead Sea.
