Background:

Six million Venezuelans have fled in recent years, since  their country’s economy and health system collapsed. This is the largest migration crisis in the world right now. Women are at the most risk as the rape of migrants has increased by 60% since the pandemic began. Of the six million Venezuelans who have left their country since 2013, nearly 2.5 million live in Colombia, which shares a 2,200km border with Venezuela, and which has in many respects presented itself as a welcoming neighbor. About 295,000 undocumented Venezuelans are in Colombia.
