As we now mark Independence Day 2024, we recognize we must strengthen our resilience and rebuild. The depth of anxiety that has gripped our society over the past seven months is well-documented: now we must strive forward.
NATAN’s core mission is restoring dignity and hope, by addressing trauma and bolstering communities. Our professionalism, expertise, and swift problem-solving, combined with our volunteers’ dedication and the nimble efficiency of our interventions set us apart.
Time and again since October 7, NATAN volunteers have made a powerful difference — especially in the Dead Sea area, in Eilat and in Ofakim.
In Ofakim, we stand as leaders and coordinators of all community psychosocial projects.Through NATAN, together with the Municipality and JDC, all stakeholders work in close collaboration, creating a robust and enduring model for community resilience and social-emotional health.
This week, NATAN sent a working group to Thailand to assess the needs of young Israeils, including Nova Festival survivors and IDF reservists, seeking refuge in South-East Asia. In one unique event, 150 young Israelis gathered for a moving commemoration.
The hopeful gathering in distant Thailand, during days of war for our existence, enables us to bear together the pain of current events, the personal and national struggle: To remember with pain and longing all those who are no longer with us, to continue to give meaning and strength to our mutual solidarity and resilience as a people, and to find comfort together.
Your generous financial support is crucial for us to continue addressing the needs of October 7 survivors.

With tremendous pleasure, NATAN is proud to introduce our new CEO, Alice Miller, who will work alongside Chair Danny Kahn as NATAN’s programs grow — and NATAN volunteers return to their global mission.
Alice was named CEO after a rigorous selection process, evaluating more than 150 candidates. Many will remember her courage and persistence in pioneering access to fighter-pilot training for women, even as she became a civilian pilot and aerospace engineer. Her fight for equality in Israel’s armed forces — the Supreme Court lifted the ban on female pilots in 1996 — eventually opened military combat roles to women.
Those who have had the opportunity to meet and work with Alice welcome her deep professional experience; her vision for NATAN’s future; her warmth and charismatic charm; and her vigor, strength and dedication to lead NATAN into its next decades of service.
NATAN is delighted to add Alice to the NATAN family, and enthusiastically welcomes her leadership.

NATAN Chair Danny Kahn will visit the U.S. this month, to attend the OLAM Focal Point 2024 international development conference, and to meet with funders, partners and volunteers in New York, NJ, PA and Washington, DC.
He will be joined by NATAN’s new CEO, Alice Miller.

Yael joined NATAN immediately after October 7 as NATAN’s Human Resources and Volunteer Coordinator, leading the five NATAN operations in Shefayim, the Dead Sea, and Eilat, and building on her impressive experience as Vice President of Human Resources in the high-tech sector.
Yael is the soul and the powerful human engine behind recruiting, selecting, training and managing hundreds of professional volunteers, guaranteeing 24/7 service to the evacuees and survivors.
“In these days, where there is so much darkness. NATAN’s activity and my ability to help even a bit, gives me so much light,” Yael said. NATAN is grateful for her contributions.
