Ukraine Refugee Relief Operation - One Month Report

April 4, 2022

Since the beginning of the operation, NATAN has deployed 3 delegations. The 4th team leaves tonight. At any given moment there are 12 NATAN professionals volunteering on site in Poland. This includes 3 nurses, 3 doctors, 3 social workers, medical clowns and a logistics manager.

In the 24/7 medical clinic, during NATAN shifts, 2920 patients have received medical treatment to date, among them 1920 women and 828 children. (These figures include only the patients met and registered by the NATAN teams). In addition, hundreds of mothers and children have been aided by NATAN’s social workers.

NATAN at Work  Top/Left:  In the clinic, Dr. Lev Dynkin treats a refugee while Dr. Yuval Kesary and Social Worker Neta Haskin keep the woman's child entertained. Bottom/Right:  NATAN RN Liana Sholomovich comforting a child in the children's play area at the refugee center.

Send in the clowns! NATAN hosts Medical Clowns who entertain children and adults alike, spreading smiles in the refugee center.

Healing bodies, souls and even pets! NATAN doctors and nurses treat some of the pets brought in by arriving refugees. The war and the journey from Ukraine have taken their toll on the pets as well as their people.

Partnerships and Collaboration

NATAN's operation to aid Ukrainian refugees is the fruit of a partnership with JDC Grid. Seen here, JDC representatives Avital Sandler-Loeff and Leora Wine meet with NATAN team members at the Przemysl refugee center.

NATAN met members of Folkowisko Association shortly after in Przemysl. The two organizations are well matched: both being nongovernmental, nonpolitical groups of dedicated volunteers, working to help others. Seen here: NATAN and Folkowisko team members in a worksession at the center. Folkowisko's Basia Psiuk with ambulance donated by NATAN. Read more here.
