10/06/24

A year has passed since the horrific events of October 7, 2023.
We still await the return of 101 hostages suffering in Hamas tunnels. We mourn the murders of those who celebrated at the Nova Festival and the residents of the Gaza border communities. We grieve the sacrifice of hundreds of soldiers who fell in the battle against terrorism, and the loss of innocent civilian lives. We wish a speedy recovery to the thousands of soldiers wounded in combat.
The massacre of October 7th revealed to Israelis, the Jewish people and the world at large that reality is far more fragile than we imagined, and that the very existence of our state is not guaranteed. It showed us that antisemitism worldwide is merely waiting for its chance to resurface. This awareness of fragility and acceptance of responsibility are perhaps the foundation of Israel’s rebirth after the war.
The unwavering commitment of Israeli civil society and the global Jewish community to immediate aid, rehabilitation, and rebuilding is the assurance of Israel’s recovery and renewal.
On this day of remembrance, NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief reaffirms its dedication to supporting the strengthening of communities in Israel and aiding disaster survivors worldwide, as much as needed, and wherever possible.
All the very best and Shanah Tovah.
