In October 2025, NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief deployed a dedicated team of medical and psychosocial professionals to the Philippines in response to a series of devastating earthquakes. This mission marked a significant return to international humanitarian operations, demonstrating that even during challenging times at home, the Israeli commitment to global solidarity remains a core priority.

Medical and Emotional Support in the Field

The team operated across several regions, including Cebu and Davao Oriental, to reach remote villages where access to healthcare is often a significant challenge. Working in the wake of the tremors, our doctors and nurses provided primary medical care to hundreds of residents, many of whom were suffering from conditions exacerbated by the displacement and stress of the disaster.

However, the team quickly realized that the impact of the earthquakes extended far beyond physical injuries. Pervasive anxiety and the fear of aftershocks had left many families afraid to return to their homes, choosing instead to sleep in makeshift tents. To address this, NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief integrated psychosocial support into every medical interaction, helping survivors process their trauma and find the strength to begin rebuilding.

Empowerment Through Partnership

A central element of the mission was the collaboration with local partners, including Operation Blessing Philippines. At NATAN, we believe that the most effective aid is that which strengthens the community from within.

Rather than only providing direct treatment, our specialists conducted intensive training sessions for local “gatekeepers”—teachers, community leaders, and healthcare workers. By equipping these local figures with the tools of psychological first aid, we ensured that the community would have a sustainable support system in place long after the mission’s conclusion.

A Message of Global Solidarity

For the people in the affected villages, the arrival of an Israeli humanitarian team provided more than just aid; it provided a sense of being seen and cared for by the global community.

For the volunteers of NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief, the mission was equally profound. Representing the values of compassion and professional excellence abroad offered a powerful sense of purpose. As one team member noted, the mission proved that “even in difficult times, we can share our knowledge and humanity.”

Commitment to the Future

The work in the Philippines has laid the groundwork for ongoing support, with a future focus on public health initiatives such as nutrition and dental care. NATAN Worldwide Disaster Relief remains committed to standing with those in crisis, wherever they may be.

“When the need is there, so are we.”
